Orestes Sanchez, M.D. – Vascular & Interventional Radiology – Dr. Sanchez attended Medical School at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, School of Medicine, Jalisco, Mexico. He completed a Flexible Internship at St. Louis University Hospitals. A Diagnostic Radiology Residency followed at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. During those three years, he taught pathophysiology at the Chicago State University College of Allied Health. During his residency, Dr. Sanchez’s interests where in trauma and neuroradiology. One year of fellowship followed at St. Louis University Hospitals specializing in Ultrasound and CT Guided Interventions. A highlight of his fellowship year was co-authoring the first presentation at the 1985 American Roentgen Ray Society meeting on “Non-invasive Ultrasound versus Contrast Venography for the Diagnosis of Symptomatic Deep Vein thrombosis.”
Following training, Dr. Sanchez accepted a position at the Albert Einstein college of Medicine Department of Radiology in 1985 as an assistant professor. By 1990, he was Section Chief of CT, Director of the Dysphagia program and Co-Director of Interventional Radiology. In conjunction with the Speech Pathology Department, Dr. Sanchez helped develop the first Multi-Disciplinary Dysphasia Program in the Bronx. Dr. Sanchez then joined Passaic-Beth Israel Hospital where he was Chairman of Radiology until the hospital moved in 2003. Dr. Sanchez held the position of Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey- Newark until 2005.
Dr. Sanchez joined the staff of St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center full-time in 2007. He specializes in Interventional Radiology. Dr. Sanchez is also involved in the mammography program as a MQSA certified reader. He also actively participates in the CT and Ultrasound interpretation. Dr. Sanchez specializes in the full range of Image Guide procedures including; Peripheral Arterial Disease Diagnosis and Treatment, Uterine Artery Embolization, Stroke Intervention, Varicose Vein Treatment, Vascular Access, Radiofrequency and Chemo-Embolization, Dialysis Intervention, Image Guided Biopsies, Drainages and Pain Management.
